Bonham, Texas-Bonham City Council will hold its regular meeting on Monday, October 12, 2021. All six councillors and Bonham Mayor H. Compton attended the meeting. The meeting began with the prayer of Pastor Henry Sheldon of Trinity Baptist Church.

Dave Struchtemeyer, the Chief Financial Officer of the City of Bonham and a certified public accountant, submitted a financial report for the month ending September 30, 2021.

"General fund income is 8% higher than budget," Mr. Struchtemeyer reported. "In this favorable difference, $180,000 comes from sales tax revenue that was budgeted fairly conservatively last year due to the uncertainty of the pandemic."

Other revenue highlights of the year detailed by the financial director include building permit and inspection fees totaling more than $200,000 this year - the highest ever - and Bonham Lake Campground costs more than $110,000 - again the highest. The line item used to be.

Struchtemeyer stated that general fund expenditures were 2% below budget. Wages and benefits are favorable for US$67,000, mainly due to lower-than-expected health care costs, and repairs and maintenance are generally favorable for US$57,000.

"As expected, the sewer fund was 7% less than the budgeted revenue, mainly due to the average billing during the water meter replacement project," Struchtemeyer pointed out.

Struchtemeyer said he expects the sewer fund to resume this year.

In the part of the meeting reserved for citizens to speak, Tony Rodriguez told MPs that he was worried that people parking on the sidewalk-sometimes even commercial vehicles-would force pedestrians to walk on the street.

"Why are they destroying the sidewalks in our city?" Mr. Rodriguez asked.

Rodriguez also asked the city government to help deal with his property opposite the church on the corner of Maples and 10th.

"This is a danger," Rodriguez commented.

Rusty Deets talked about an agenda item that will be proposed later in the meeting that can make the Beech Street 300 block a one-way; he reminded city leaders of the precedent that they rejected similar requests in the past.

Bonham City Council approved and accepted Bonham Economic Development’s operating budget for the 2020-2021 fiscal year approved by the Bonham Economic Development Board of Directors.

The members of the board expressed their support for BEDCo's ambitious position, especially the shared vision of developing the Jones oil field.

Council members approved a decree amending Decree No. 1366, providing permits, registration, re-inspection, and planning and zoning fee schedules.

The amendment will update the city's license fees that have not increased since 2018. The new fees will be similar to those in surrounding cities.

The Bonham City Council approved a decree amending Decree No. 1371, establishing a concession for residential and commercial solid waste collection and disposal services.

For companies operating within the city or renting properties in Bonham Lake without a franchise agreement, the amendment will increase the fee to $2,000 per customer per day.

The Bonham City Council approved a decree declaring that the 500 and 600 blocks of West Third Street and the 300 blocks of Beach Street in Bonham, Fanning County, Texas will be used for one-way traffic from West Sam Rayburn Avenue Traffic; traffic on the southbound beech street; drive eastward along the west third street from the intersection of west third street and beech street.

The 300 block of Beech Street extends along the east side of Feed Lot and has affected traffic on West Sam Rayburn Drive during peak hours in the past.
