The Poketch app makes its return in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl and here's where to find all of the available apps while playing.

Following their announcement earlier this year during the 25th Anniversary Event for the Pokemon franchise, the remakes of Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl have finally launched. The games will likely serve as a nostalgic trip for longtime players, especially those who originally played the titles on the Nintendo DS. While gameplay and story remain largely as players ramember them, developer ILCA updated the game's visuals while also expanded certain features like the Grand Underground and Ramanas Park.

Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl also bring back the Poketch App, a device that originally took advantage of the Nintendo DS and it's lower screen. The device was intended to function similarly to a smartwatch, offering the player numerous apps each with their own functionality and purpose.

Thankfully, the Poketch app makes its return inside of the Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl remakes, being given to the player at Jubilife City after speaking to a man standing in the center of town and finding three clowns around town. By pressing R on the controller, the Poketch app can be interacted with. Naturally, there are multiple apps that can be found while playing through the game, so here is the complete list and where to find them.

As expected, this displays the actual time, based on the players Switch settings. This is included with the Poketch by default.

Another standard app on Smart Devices, this is a simple calculator that can be used to perform math equations. However, it also has a secret function that if the player types in the number of a Pokemon in the Pokedex, that creatures cry will be played. This app is with the Poketch by default.

A blank screen that players can use to write notes or draw pictures using the cursor.

It can be obtained after earning the first badge by beating Roark from Oreburgh City. Return to Jubilife City and speak to the President of the Poketch Company again. However, players will find him on the ground floor of the Pokétch Company building on the western side of town.

Another default app of the Poketch is the Pedometer which tracks the amount of steps made in game. This can be cleared by pressing the 'C' button.

This app shows the player's current active party, their current health, as well as if they're holding any items or not. This is another default Poketch app.

As expected, this app shows the friendship level and values for each Pokemon. By tapping and holding over the Pokemon, it displays hearts indicating the level of friendship. Zero means none to low friendship status, 1 is normal friendship, and 2 is high-to-max level friendship. This app is important for some evolutions like turning Riolu into Lucario, which requires a certain level before it triggers.

Players can add this app to their Poketch by speaking to the Aroma Lady at the Eterna City Pokemon Center.

Similar to previous games, the Dowsing Machine can be used to locate hidden items in an area. Players can use it to scan sections where players tap on the app. Upon the first time entering Route 207 from the Cycling Road, either Dawn or Lucas will give this app to the player.

Any Pokemon left at a Nursery can be checked up on through this app as well as whether or not an egg is there. What's valuable about this app is normally, players would have to return to Solaceon Town to check on them.

The Egg Monitor app can be obtained by talking to the man sitting by the table at the Solaceon Town Pokémon Nursery once te player has left a Pokemon behind at the Nursery.

For those who want a recap of their Pokemon exploits, the History app shows the last 12 Pokemon that have hatched, evolved, or been captured. Selecting the icon of the Pokemon will play its cry.

This is another app that can be found in Solaceon Town. Simply speak to the Park Ranger to the left of the Pokemon Center.

Pressing the '+' icon on this app will raise the number displayed on screen, though it will revert back to zero if another app is used. Many players tend to use this app less as a random counter and instead count encounters in chains when hunting for Pokemon shinies or the number of egg hatches.

When visiting the Veilstone City Department Store, players should speak to a cashier in front of the escalator on the second floor.

Similar to the default Digital Watch, this app instead displays the time on the Poketch in the style of a traditional clock with an hour and minute hand. Just like the digital clock, its set to the time of the Nintendo Switch and is valuable for hunting Pokemon at specific times of the day.

Players can collect this app from Celestic Town after speaking to the Black Belt in the house at the Southwest corner of the town.

This map app displays the Sinnoh region and allows players to place their own markers for points of interest or places to visit at a later date. However, the Marking Map also displays the locations of roaming Pokemon Cresselia and Mesprit once the player has encountered them at Fullmoon Island and Lake Verity.

After obtaining the third badge from Maylene at Veilstone City, players should return to the President of the Poketch Company at Jubilife City to recieve this app.

A 50/50 coin toss app, players press a button to flip a digital version of a coin with a Magicarp symbol on one side and a pokeball on the other. The app can technically be used to make a fair decision, depending on which way the coin lands.

Players can find this one after getting access to the Rock Climb TM/HM move and visiting a Rich Boy from the Valor Lakefront suite.

Similar to the watches, the calendar is synced to the date/time values of the player's Nintendo Switch. When opened inside of the app, it displays the current month and highlights the specific date.

In order to get it, players will need to head to Sunyshore City where the Gym Leader Volkner is located. After arriving, find a Poketch developer in a house near Pokemon Rock to the east. In order to convince them to hand over the app, the player will need to show them a Pokemon with a Serious nature.

Similar to the Memo app, Dot Artist lets players create and draw pixel art by tapping cells and changing shades. In the same location as the Calendar app, players will want to speak to the Poketch developer and show them a Pokemon with a Naive nature.

Finally, the third app players can get from the Poketch developer at Sunyshore City is the Spinner. It features a spinner in the center, similar to a roulette wheel that can be spun by pressing the play button, stopped by pressing the square, or clear to erase the drawings made around the spinner. In order to get this app, show the developer a Pokemon with the Quirky nature.

The Chain Counter app shows the top 3 Pokemon you've consecutively encountered through the Poke Radar, with the species and number of Pokemon in the chain.

Once inside Ramanas Park, players should speak to Professor Oak who will hand it over.

A Snorlax shaped timer, players can change the second, minute, and hour values (up to 100 minutes maximum) before counting down to an alarm. Many players find value in this app to help with figuring out when the Honey Tree Wait Time is up.

Make sure to speak to the girl at Ramanas Park and show her a Snorlax in order to add this app.

Similar to a setting in most digital devices, the color changer allows the player to switch the background color of the Poketch. For those who don't want the green background, they can pick from red, yellow, orange, blue, purple, and grey.

This app can be obtained from the same little girl as Ramanas Park after showing her the chameleon-like Pokemon, Kecleon.

The final app may be the most important of the bunch. New to this remake is the addition of Hidden Moves into the Poketch, allowing players to call on wild Pokemon to perform the actions of unlocked HMs like Cut, Surf, and more. Newly unlocked HMs will automatically be added to the Poketch and with it, players no longer need to teach specific moves to Pokemon, keeping a move slot free.

While players will eventually obtain this valuable app through progressing the story, it'll be given from a Hiker at the entrance to Oreburgh Gate.

Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl are available on Nintendo Switch.
